Eatmor, Ohris - PG Road

I’ve visited this place 2 times under a week. It’s the best alternative to CCD if you are craving for some delicious and mouth-watering desserts and Shakes.

5 Carat:

I was skeptical before ordering a cold stone ice cream from Ohris but when I saw the guy who was to prepare the ice cream for me I jumped on it because he was the same guy from Oh so Stoned when they initially started operations in Karkhana. The ice cream is good and will not disappoint

Chocolate Frappe:

This shake is amazing primarily because of the use of the ice cream used and the sauce that goes in to give it that taste and consistency. This is a chocoholic’s delight. You can have this Frappe on your wish-list.

Caramel Frappe:

This is by far the best shake I’ve tasted in Hyderabad. I’ve been to Starbucks/ Gloria Jeans Coffee and others to try their caramel based drinks but this reminds me of the one I tasted at Sakleys(Delhi). This is heavenly! I’d recommend you to go ahead and try this. It derives its taste from the caramel sauce used and the ice cream that was left un-blended (it could be on purpose). You can savor this Frappe in every sip. A must have.

“If this becomes your fad, then no one can save you from getting fat” ;)

Captain Grub, DLF Phase-1

My last day in Delhi and we were on a binging spree.
Hungry at night we decided to try this Captain Grub out.

Sloppy Joe with Melted Cheese
My friend called it Atanki(one that spreads terror) Yes it indeed was atanki. Was huge and I was a complete mess by the time I was done. The burger though was on the average side in terms of taste. I couldn't taste the lamb and neither could I taste the cheese. But considering the time of delivery. This beats all others.

Loaded Mexican Delight
A sheer waste of money I feel. It had shredded chicken with a bit of cheeze mixed with nachos. Not worth it. Not at all.

Mad doggies
Sausage wrapped with bacon and cheese was the best. It tasted yum, perfectly cooked and balanced in taste. Though it's on the higher side in terms of pricing but totally a must have.

Penne Arrabbiata
Not cheesy and tested decent. Nothing extraordinary about it. Wouldn't miss out on anything if you let this one pass.

Kitkat Shake
The quantity I feel was not enough for the price charged. If the taste of the shake had been good, I wouldn't have cared but that too was on the decent to average level. Nothing great.

Overall this is the best place to order from when midnight food cravings strike. But mind you do not expect food that to be finger licking good.

I am rating it purely on the taste.

A walk at Jama

Chor Bazaar of Delhi is a place listed on Delhi tourism and we thought, why not?
Next day we are standing right there at 5 am looking at the hawkers sell stolen clothes and shoes at throw away prices and the cops seemes to be aware of it all.

We came across a vendor selling Biryani and decided to try it after much contemplation. It was decent for a 5 am dish.
Rice were not flavoured enough but had it in them the tinge of saffron used and that gave out a right aroma. The chicken was properly cooked and came off easy. For 30 bucks it was worth it.

I found the place(Chor Bazaar) highly over rated, where rip offs are more predominant than the real stuff and I've got a few words of caution for you, what you buy before sunrise will look totally different once the sun is up. No wonder this place is flourishing.
You've got to be a regular to fish out th best of stuff.

We then walked towards Jama Masjid for breakfast.
The lane opposite Jama Masjid Is all lit up at 7 am and you can smell good food cooking.
Picked out a place that looked hygienic and ordered for Nihari and Khorma.

Nihari
This was by far the best breakfast of mine in Delhi. Grated ginger, chopped chili and ghee made this Nihari something worth remembering. You've got to try this one.

Khorma.
Didn't really like it. It consisted of 3 pieces of mutton in onion based gravy but I personally didn't like it.

All we paid was 86 for the food we ate. That's economical.

After an hearty breakfast we headed out towards Chawdi Bazaar and came across a vendor selling something called Daulat ki Chaat.

Now I really have no ideas how it's prepared but it had whipped cream which was so light that you wouldn't even know you ate it.

It was served something like this,
White cream at the bottom, bread crumbs topped with cream that consistsed of saffron and ground sugar.
This is one Indian dessert that ought to be in every city of India. Never have I seen or eaten such an item in Hyderabad.

Well, this is my Delhi Chor BazaarI story, what's yours?

Changezi, Prirampura Delhi

We ended up at Pritampura Changezi at 5 and were told they do not start serving before 6:30 pm.

So we lingered around and entered the resraurant which is a few meters away at 6. We ordered Nihari first.
(This is my first time, never ate Nihari before)
Nihari
The plating was something like this, masala and chicken drowned in Ghee. N kidding. The taste of Nihari Is only because of the ghee. The mutton was soft and melted. The masala I really don't know how they cooked it but it was yum.

Afghani Chicken
This one was served and had ghee all over. The chicken was soo rich all you diet conscious people should stay away. The chicken came off well, was tender and tasted good.

Changezi Chicken
The chicken was served in a masala prepared using a lot of onions and this dish did not taste or feel extraordinary. It's something we can cook at home. I felt this dish is overrated. Nonetheless, if you are a first timer then you'd love it.

Roshan di Kulfi

Over rated is one word and over priced is another.
The kulfi was rich in texture, but it wasn't drool worthy.
The vermicilli added on top made it even worse.
Firstly there isn't enough kulfi that can be consumed with the vermicilli and if I am paying 95, I better have enough kulfi to be consumed with the vermicilli until the last bite.

Sackleys - the mountain cafe

Lamb Steak
Around 4 pieces of lamb in a mushroom sauce which tasted yum, served with fries, rice and sauted vegetables.
The vegetables were perfectly cooked and the fires were perfect-crisp on the out and tender inside.
But one slice of Lamb was highly undercooked and was inedible. The others were perfectly cooked and tasted perfect.
This sizzler is a must have, I'd say.

Caramel Shake
This was served to me as a complementary because of the fiasco with the steak and mind you this is some good stuff. The taste still lingers and I just want to dive into a pool full of this tuff. Gluttony, I would care less. The chocolate sauce and caramel made the shake thick and the ice cream topping was the feather in the hat. Wow. This one bowled me over.

Double Roti, Gurgaon

Dinner

When you have a craving for some Kickass burgers, I'd recommend this place considering the amount we spend and the food we had, it was in proportion to each other.

#Area69
This is a simple burger with a meat patty, bacon and caramelized onions. I felt the entire taste was solely carried by the bacon. It's a good eat. But more on the regular side.

Illegal Burger.
This one was the star. Meat patty, cheese, caramelized onion, a i don't care what. It was one of the best I've eaten so far. I'd recommend this one.

The buns in both the burgers were soft and weren't chewy. The meat was tender, juicy and did not disappoint in terms of taste and the fries too were perfect.

Killer Chocolate Shake.
The quantity was more than what I expected. It had hints of chocolate sauce but the flavour of a chocolate ice cream was predominant and it was a good drink and served in an equally amazing jar.

What I loved was the way the food was served. In pans, storage bottles and kadai. Love it!

Daily Treats - The Westin, Hyderabad

Came to drop off my brother and ended up at Daily Treats and ordered Macroons and Tiramisu.

Macroons:
Ordered Chocolate, Pista and Blueberry and all of them were perfect and I really think the taste justified the name.

Tiramisu
The cream was soft and sweet and yummy, the biscuit on the top was delicious and the cake as layers was light and complemented the entire dish perfectly. This is one dessert you ought to try if in Westin. Since I was eating it after dinner, I had to take time to finish it because, this dessert is heavy.

Will head back here again, for sure.

So. Food & More - FILM NAGAR

Satay Kai
6 pieces of chicken marinated probably in chilly flakes, olive oil and then grilled.
The chicken was really tender, perfectly cooked and yummy. The sauce of chilli flakes and olive oil that was served with dish complemented the chicken perfectly.
Worth trying.

Roasted Lamb, sliced and grilled
Chilly Basil and Black Bean sauce for the sizzlers.
This was so scrumptious and filling that I couldn't move after I almost managed to finish it.
The serving looked normal but finishing it was a task.
The French fries served along with the sizzler was crisp on the out and soft inside. Perfect.
The vegetables ranging from broccoli, beans to the pineapple and the rice were so perfectly cooked and the sauce made this dish stand out. Just loved it.

Forever young
A cream based mocktail. Presentation was classy.
A red jelly at the bottom, juice in the middle and cola with ice cream on the top. It looked lovely and tasted equally good. Worth it.

Shirleys temple.
Avoid.
Strawberry crush with sprite or crush with sugar syrup and Soda.
The crush is available over the shelf in every supermarket.

The ambiance was equally good. Just loved every bit of my time here.

The Joint Cafe - DLF Phase 4

A place I've heard good reviews about. My friend was in love with this place and he just made sure he took us there(A brand loyalist)

We enter the JOINT and he leads us. Menu cards are placed in front of us and my companion is puzzled with a drastic change in menu. Disappoitment - strike 1
We ask for a Hangover breakfast and we are served 3 small burgers, 2 sausages and hash browns. One of the burgers served was pork, the other chicken and the last one was beef.
Taste - amazing.
I can't begin to describe how these burgers managed to tickle my buds.
Perfect!
(We entered this place at 8 pm and the breakfast menu, we were informed would be served only during the day unlike what they used to do previously - serve it when ordered)
Pancakes (Hangover Breakfast)
I can cook this at home. Why would I pay a restaurant money when I can do the same. I guess they were least interred and give it for the heck of it. Not great in terms of taste, I deserve lot better.
Lemonade (Hangover Breakfast)
Same issue.

Strawberry SmoothieAlright it didn't like it much really. Period.
Louisiana BBQ Chicken Roast.I had a sizzler similar to this one at half the price in Goa but then considering the location this price is justified. The dish consisted of 2 pieces of grilled  chicken breasts served in bbq sauce which had black pepper and garlic that I could figure along with vegetables and mashed potatoes. The chicken was Tender and came off easily with the fork  but it wasn't juicy enough in certain areas.

The Ambiance was amazing until a man walks in and creates a ruckus when someone touched his chair, when the smoothie served was not cold and tasted like sweet buttermilk, when the AC wasn't cooling as much as it should.

We happened to be there at the time when 2 gentlemen happened to be singing and playing the guitar. Now that is what we call an Awesome Joint!
A nice place to be.

Tunday Kababi - Qutub Plaza

It was Biryani Time in Delhi. What place better than Tunday- a legend back in Lucknow  to draw a comparison between the two styles of Biryani - Hyderabad and Lucknow.
I paid 150 for a plate of Biryani which consisted of 2 chicken pieces. The portion size was just a fraction of what you would get back in Hyderabad and the 2 pieces of chicken were an insult to what I am used to having in Hyderabad.
Taste:
Alright, I expected it to be good but it was no where close. In fact it was miles away. There was a lot of orange colour in it which was part saffron, part colour. I could see no masala in the rice and neither could I taste the spices that are predominant in Hyderabadi Biryani. A simple dish I tasted for a Biryani.

Verdict.
Stay away. This Biryani is not for a Hyderabadi in Delhi.

Binge- DLF Phase I

One of the best places in Qutub Plaza Market. A Must Visit once and you are bound to step into this place everyday post that.

Shakes;
I once tried the Chocolate Shake and the consistency, the chocolaty taste, the chocolate sauce that you taste occasionally in every sip makes the shake the Best VALUE for MONEY item on the menu. If I had to guess the ingredients it's probably made with a dark Chocolate sauce, cocoa powder(minimal), and Chocolate powder. You can make it at home and if you do (boost or bournvita would also help).

Coffee Shake:
This again is so similar to what you might make at home but then at Binge it's a little different as they have to add a few additions to the coffee to make sure it stands out. But it's not bad and tastes good. But I wouldn't have it.

Oreo Shake
A commendable attempt by Binge. This Shake is fine, can have it once or twice but not always. You can make this at home as well. Oreo biscuits crushed in milk are left in the bottom as a concentration while a chocolate milk is added on top, so you drink it with crushed biscuits in every sip.

Death By Bliss.
This piece of pastry is surely Bliss. Best eaten when heated. The pastry is heated and broken in two, the moment you start eating it, with every bite you are delighted. Melted chocolate drips down from the middle of the cake with every bite you take. You cannot have enough of it. This surely is heavenly.

Vaango!- DLF Cyber City, Cyber Hub.

Wanted to have a light evening snack and decided to try Vaango!
The idly was priced at 70 which I felt was ridiculously high for the place.(I am from Hyderabad and yes we too have places that sell a plate of Idly for that price like Chutneys, Minerva Coffee Shop and a lot more. But then the place and the ambiance too is of that level and that justifies the price charged)

The idly was not spongy at all and was rubbery. Like it was made in the morning and left to dry. Bad!
The Sambar had all the right ingredients but some how it didn't taste the way it should. Something was missing for some reason.
My suggestion, Avoid it!

Burger Point - Qutub Plaza

Chicken Chill Lava
There is little or no place to sit and eat but what else can one expect when he/she decides to go for budget friendly joints. The burger buns were soft and left impressions of the tumb upon taking a bite, that was the plus point. The chicken tikki was crisp and tasted like I was having a burger from McD or KFC, thats how good it was. It consisted of a lettuce leaf with what I believe was chiptole sauce, a cheese slice and some mayo. It consisted of a red chutney which was probably made of those large red chillis which is served with momo's almost everywhere. The burger overall wasn,t so chilly. If in Hyderabad you order something which is high on spice then you are bound to cry and I can gaurantee that one wouldn't be able to finish the food unless he takes a sip of water after every bite.

Starbucks - Sector 29

What better than spending your weekend with food?
I decided I had to give Starbucks another chance as they disappointed me the first time.
Coffee
They decided to serve it without sugar. It wasn't sweet, it was very sour and the person who had ordered did not like it one bit.
I ordered Caramel
This being milk based coffee with caramel and topped with a lot of cream made the drink too sweet to drink. I requested the Barista to add some coffee to offset the sweetness and he added 2 shots of espresso and the made the coffee sour. I requested for another alteration. The result sweet again. So i took the Coffee drink added it to my Caramel, mixed the cream and viola I did what the Barista couldn't. If this was how I asked for, why was it difficult ?
Probably the original recipe is lot of sweetness but if a customer requests for an alteration then they really should know what to do.
Huge Disappointment.
Another thing i noticed was the price being charged for a slice of pastry. Highly over priced and over rated.
Another negative being the mix up of orders ours was served to someone else and both the times my name was not spelled right.

The ambiance is what impressed me and the rating is just for the ambiance.

Bikanervala Sector 29

This is not a place one would go for the ambiance or the service but would only visit for the fine taste they offer
I being from Hyderabad tried the chat here in Bikanervala for the first time.
Pau Bhaaji
I did not like it.
The bhaaji had a very homely feel to it(except for the amount of oil used) where you could taste boiled potato which justified the price. I am used to having more of street side pau bhaaji and back home the bhaaji is totally different, lemon juice is added to it, onions, coriander and Amul butter and the bhaji is a fine paste. The taste is totally different.

Chole Bhature.
First things first, I found the chole dry and with the Bhatura, I personally like to have some gravy. The quantity was insufficient for me to finish my Bhatura, I left half of it as I didn't have more chole. The chole tasted fine not something out of ordinary. Again I think in terms of taste it can be improved.

(I have never visited their branch in Hyderabad so can't really compare in terms of taste)

Dana Choga Kitchen - Qutub Plaza

Murg Makhni
The chicken was soft and flavourful though I did not feel there was any sort makkhan in it.I probably expect the taste to be rich. An decent dish altogether.
Tandoori Chicken.
When compared to what I have eaten in Hyderabad this did not have much masala from the marinade and neither was it charred too much which for some could be a plus point and for a few it wouldn't. The chicken was not at all chewy in the breast region which I just felt was the best thing.
Chicken Chatkaara
I expected it to be a little spicy but it was no where close to it. It has baby onions in it and the gravy too was on the bland side. What I noticed was the chef made sure the chicken remains tender in the breast region.
Overall a nice place to order from but the taste I dont feel justifies the price. If they could only improve the taste then there would be no looking back.

Naushi's Kitchenette - Qutub Plaza

I have visited this place for more than 3 times this month. When compared to Binge this is the best alternative available.
I tried the Coffee Mousse something (I am bad with names) It is that triangular pastry on display that calls for your attention instantly. It had a sponge cake at the bottom, the mousse in the middle with a distinct coffee flavour and covered with a layer of chocolate on the top. The mousse I felt had the flavour of egg(not sure) and if I am right, it had been set using gelatin. It costed 95 rupees, was pretty heavy and I couldn't have eaten more than that.
The next best is Chocolate Truffle. Make sure you have heated it before you start binging on it because that is how it should be eaten. The cake was soft and chocolaty.
Double chocolate chip pastry. This I felt lacked the softness and was from the previous days batch. It has a very strong taste of chocolate though but then nothing when compared to Truffle. It was the best that Naushi's has to offer.
My final review would be A nice small place with limited options in terms of pastries and bang on with their taste but make sure it is fresh or you will end up having a bad eating experience.

Star Bucks - Ambiance Mall

From Hyderabad and the hype that surrounds Starbucks dragged me to the place and I ended up ordering a  Iced Caramel Macchiato.
I will compare it in terms of taste with the signature caramel shake of Gloria Jeans Coffee with both being of the same price range.
The final product was very watery and filled 1/4th of my cup with ice, This much ice I didn't expect, no taste of caramel as the melting ice diluted the entire drink taking away with it the flavour. This resulted in the Macchiato developing bland taste and not something I would have ever paid for. If I were in any other normal Cafe I would have questioned the making, but here people seemed to enjoy whatever was being offered so I chose not to go back complaining as Macchiato- I was tasting for the first time.
The hype around the place is surely got it customers, but the taste will never bring me back for sure.

Sandoz - Nariana

April 8
What do you do when you heading back home after a tiring day and are very hungry?
Pick up good food from anywhere.

Afghan Chicken
I felt it was a Malai kabeb with more than just Malai But a whole lot of cream and probably some mayonnaise as well.
This chicken I rarely find in Hyderabad. Tender and full of flavor. The cream made it heavy and rich.
This dish is high on calories
I like it charred so the next time I would instruct the chef to keep it in the tandoor a little bit longer than usual.

Veneto

March 30
Pizza Diavolo
This was a decent treat. The pizza was cheesy and consisted of zucchini, broccoli, olives and a tangy red sauce at its base. It was good.

Involtini di pollo Ripieno
The plating of the dish blew me over. A nice piece of broccoli and cauliflower sauted along with 2 slices of carrots placed in one corner. Mashed potatoes in the middle dressed with chicken pieces on top and around it. A mildly cheesy sauce was poured all over the plate.
It consisted of nearly 7-8 chicken pieces.
The chicken was round in shape like a coin with thin strips holding a mix of mashed chicken and herbs in the middle. It was a delicacy.
I added oregano and chilli flakes to suit my taste. The potato part was inedible for me, way too bland.

Chicken Salad
It had 3 slices of bread which had a filling of zucchini, capsicum, onion, chicken and omelette.
Off all the sandwiches I have tasted, generally the filling is spread all over the bread, but this one had it only in the front while the end and the crumbs part of the bread was dry. If that did not spoil the taste, the chicken and vegetables mix had no sause to make the bread eatable. In the middle was placed the egg. I didn't really appreciate the combination.
Ambiance- 5
It's got a unique entry(barring the stench of the water) and a nice comfortable, well lit interiors.
Service- 5
Prompt waiters.
Taste- 3
Though the pizza was not anything out of ordinary the chicken grill was good. But the sandwich was pathetic.
The names of the dishes I will upload as quickly as I can

MRCB-2

Chicken 65
This is a very nice starter. Lots of green chillies and garlic. The chicken has a very thin coating and is bright red. Tastes good and is spicy. The chicken is soft and melts.
Manchuria
The manchuria is just like the one i ate in Hunan spice and I keep ordering it. The taste is splendid and the spices are on a higher note. But worth it
Pot Biryani.
A typical locally suited biryani (MRCH calls it Local Telugu Biryani). High on chilli and balanced on the spices. The rice upon opening, the packet, may look like it does not consist a lot of masala, but it tastes otherwise. A 200 rupees Biryani has 4 pieces and all are from the breast region of the chicken which makes it chewy and n ordeal to eat the chicken. Mention that you want a good tender piece. The Biryani is spicy mind you.

Taste wise this is the best place close by Marredpally.
Note:
The only issue is since it is a takeaway you can get old cooked chicken or manchuria in your parcel. So make sure you taste it before you choose and I would suggest request him to make one for you and not use whats displayed in the front.
If you take care of that then sit back and enjoy your food.

(It's just an updated version with comments of my previous Review).

A`la Liberty

13-3-2014
Dinner

What happens When a hardcore Punjabi Family used to eating Tandoori Chicken and Tangdi Kebabs enter a restaurant meant for Vegetarians and one which specifically caters to a certain type of veggies ?
This is how my story goes.

Quesadillas
These were not authentic but an Indianized version. The base, very thin with a lot of oil, while the filling inside was there but didn't seem enough to justify the dish or enough to really analyse what was there along with the cheese and we couldnt even taste the cheese.
Not worth it not at all.

Paneer Tikka
This was much better. The paneer was so soft that it melted in my mouth. The green chutney complemented the taste of the paneer which was on the bland side perfectly.
It was a perfect dish. my compliments to the chef.

Daal Makhni
The daal was no where close to even good.
The lentils were undercooked, there was no butter in the dish and the overall taste too was not really good.
Wonder what made the chef take off the daal from the stove so quickly and did he forget to add the butter?
Come on, the reputation of this place is of a Restaurant with mouth watering food and one where people come back for more. This is not Justified.

Methi Chaman
We are used to having methi chaman and know what the taste is like. The chef here probably used a lot (excessive) of palak that gave it a distinct spinachy taste. This resulted in a dish which was more on the likes of Palak paneer.
Disappointment.

Food: 1

Ambiance: 3
Lot of chatter when we went and it was a full house. Also the place bore a beaten look.

Service:1
The only good thing about this place was the service and interaction with us. Promt every moment.
But then when asked to get the fingerbowls, I saw the waiter transferring water from soiled bowls into a big bowl cleaned them up with a paper napkin and served it to us.
I did not raise the issue as we were there on invitation and it would have been inappropriate to do so at that time.
Never again shall we cross paths A'la Liberty.

The End.

Ruci & Idoni

6-3-2014

After A clueless meal at Bouchon we decided we had to eat something FILLING,  so we took the road that lead us to Ruci & Idoni.

Ice Coffee Caramel
I mentioned that I wanted it without the ice and that is how it was served.
The coffee was of room temperature and tasted like a normal Frappe.
I could taste the caramel in it. This could have been a perfect drink for me if it had a little more of the caramel.

Mochachino
It cant get over the taste yet. This hot chocolate drink was really worth every penny and costed  just 80. A perfect drink to order if you plan to sit here and read your books or complete your office chores.

 Quesadilla Cottage Cheese
I was served with only 2 of these with a sour yoghurt mixture and a chopped tomato, chilli, and lemon juice chutney.
The quesadillas consisted of cottage cheese and some red paste that covered the paneer. This tasted best with the chopped tomato chutney.

Piri Piri Burger
Burger was served with potato wedges and salad topped with  chipotle sauce and the same chopped tomato chutney.
Wedges were crisp on the out And soft in the inside. Perfectly Cooked.
The salad tasted best after one of my companion mixed the tomato chutney with the salad.
The burger had lettuce, chicken pieces which had the masala and that was the heart of the burger. Mayonnaise and chipotel sauce.
This is one thing you should order.

Pizza- Harvest Vegetables.
A nice big pizza with zucchini, bell peppers, broccoli, caramelized onions along with few other vegetable which I cared less about.
The vegetables had a smoky charred taste and that did not appeal my taste and I avoided this pizza altogether while the others cleaned the plate in no time.

Service:
The service was prompt but the waiter guiding us with our order was ignorant about the items in the menu.
At an instance I inquired as to what  goes into making the nutella drink. He replied,"Some nut and chocolate". It was clearly written in the menu Hazelnut and he didn't know which nut. Not that I am unhappy with the service but just unhappy with the ignorant state the waiter was in.

Including this in my criteria, Service would be 3

Ambiance: 5
Love the king sized chairs and the notes left being by the customers and the paintings placed randomly.

Taste: 4.5

Bouchon(Bombay Duck)

6-3-2014

Headed to Bouchon to taste some yummy food. Good reviews aboutBombay Duck And my inquisitive nature to try it.

Indian Crepes
Pancakes stuffed with vegetable and dipped in some curry( related it to masala dosa with sambar)
I tried to appreciate the food better but having no prior experience in how an authentic one tastes, I really cannot comment on this one.

Chicken Indian Style
2 pieces of chicken from the breast region and rice with nuts and dry fruits. The chicken marinated and then grilled, served with mustard sauce. It tasted best with the sauce while the marinade was not enough to carry the taste all by itself. The rice was almost similar to the sweet rice made at home except for the sweetness and the coconut flakes.
Good combination though.

Pepperoncini
It consisted of cherry tomatoes which were not red in colour. Bell peppers, tomatoes. This is not a place recommended for pizzas. 500 for a pizza like this not worth it.
Try other dishes, if not a pizza.

Service
The waiter was hovering around us as we were the only ones eating here. So we got his undivided attention.
During the feedback, we mentioned that we couldn't appreciate the cuisine and the waiter replied, probably because it's French.

But when one adds Indian in the name then shouldn't the taste suit our Indian palates And when they don't there are just 2 options left
1. How Indianised was the food?
2. And did the chef do any justice to the dish?(Indo-French cuisine)

Since I have no experience in French food I really cannot comment on those questions I have raised.

Service- 5

Great Indian Kabeb Factory

I know this place has been shut for quite a while now and whenever I think of buffet this is the only place that comes to my mind.
Gheloti Kebab was one of my favourites served here. I remember he suggesting us to eat it with the roti served And I was speculative of his suggestion but none the less I went ahead and wow it really did taste good but after a little improvisation.
I took the small roti added onions and green mint chutney the gheloti rolled it and then it tasted like a Kings snack.
I really don't remember how it was cooked but it sure was tender.

Daal Makhni
I haven't tasted better daal than this ever in my entire 21 years(one of Vivanta's restaurants serves a good daal, have to taste it).
I took 7 helpings and I could have swam in that daal if not for my stomach that couldn't take on anymore of my tongue's tyranny.
Thick, buttery, thoroughly mashed and felt like a dish out from the cook books.
I use it as a benchmark.

Not that other dishes are bad they were equally good but the above 2 still bring back the taste.
Please open up somewhere in Hyderabad and I'll sure be your 1st customer.

The Hyderabad Times Cafe

A lot of hype around this place for its ambiance which is unworthy.
The place is no doubt has a nice feel to it yet there is nothing out of the ordinary except an entwined portrait of iconic places in the city and around it, which gave it a unique touch along with the view.
Since I am not a seesha fan I ordered a Caffe Frappe. It was similar to a  normal coffee drink that one can order in any coffee shop. Nothing out of ordinary again(referring to the Starbucks coffee tag)
I have been to various places that serve coffee and every place has its unique touch to it. This one seemed just normal, no special touch.
199/- is too high a price.
I would rather spend that money for a Kapi Nirvana at CCD and still be left with money to take home.
I do understand that this not a place which specializes in coffee but If someone like me ends up there then the price charged is not something that justifies the taste while I would be willing to pay a  bit lesser at Testa Rossa for Mocha Frappe.

Truffles Bar and Cafe

26-2-14
Breakfast time and the ratings on Zomato for this place was higher than Bouchon.

The Ambiance, first.
What a place. We took a table that felt like a picnic bench out of the cartoons adjacent to the earthen pizza oven. It felt real, no artificial arrangements and the ambiance was just out of a painting.
Towards the interior, the placement of old electronics and other antiques near the window was kind of creative. The seatings were comfortable as well.

Breakfast.

Veg Barbecue sandwich
This sandwich was served with tomato sauce, and a white sauce with garlic in it.
The sandwich had a filling of vegetables like broccoli, zucchini(yellow and green), baby corn, mushroom in barbecue sauce.
It tasted best with that whitish sauce.

Spanish omelette
As stated by the person who took my order this is an omelette comprising of 5 eggs.
The omelette was cooked with basic vegetables like capsicum, bell peppers, onions and mashed potatoes served with 2 slices of bread. It was filling with no need to order anything else.
For the price I was charged the chef could have served it with sausages and potatoes wedges like Fiesta Coffee shop(Minerva Grand).
The Spanish omelette served at Fiesta Coffee shop and Ofen were served with either wedges or sausages or both and I remember seeing olives in it along with the other veggies.

Not recommend.

Chocolate Smoothie
This was the star dish/drink. It was thick and was one of a kind.
I rated  Mocha Frappe of Testa Rossa with distinction but this is a tougher contender and a one with an amazing taste and the odds favouring it.
I couldn't resist slurping 2 Of these heavenly creations.

Chicken onion Sandwich
This was a Yummy one. A mixture of mayo, onion and chicken with crushed pepper in the bread which was grilled tasted delicious. Nothing extra ordinary or innovative though.

Chicken Sausage.
Give this one a pass. The chef could have been innovative with the preparation. Rather I was served 4 sausages similar to the ones I occasionally cook for myself.

I was disappointed with the omelette and the sausage. Plus the same kind of onion sandwich was once served at a place called Moussri Sana(doesn't exist now)

Shadaab (Take Away)

The Biryani from this place is one of the most authentic Biryani's one can ever have rather I ever tasted.
The spices were in sync with each other, I have basic idea as to how it is cooked, and I can say the masala did not stick together and was evenly spread and it dint feel too heavy after eating. Coming to the chicken part, it was the leg and the thigh region of the the Bird and was not fleshy. The saalan did not augment the taste(but the saalan tasted good) infact the Biryani alone was able to carry off the taste and the flavours.

Testa Rossa - Tivoli

What rude staff this place has.
I ordered for a bottle of water that was of room temperature and the waiter gets me cold water. Now cold water triggers my sneezing allergy. On pointing it out to the waiter he replies"If this is not room temperature then what is? "
At that instant the delivery guy brings in 2 cartons of bottled water and I asked another waiter to get that.
I then pointed out. This is room temperature not that And he passes a comment which was inaudible.
If it was not for hookah's this place would be long shut with the kind of staff this place has.

Rude and brash.

The Paratha WalI Gali- Sainikpuri

On my way back home I spotted this place just because it is adjacent to Mama Mia and i decided to taste the food here.

I ordered Dal makhni for just myself.
It had no colour and was similar to a home made daal, except for dollops of butter used 'Dil Khool ke'.
The daal too was not mashed like the one they serve in the restaurants, it tasted rich nonetheless. There was coriander visible in the daal(don't generally find that in a restaurant's daal).
The daal was so much similar, barring the butter, to what my mother cooks at home.

Tha Ambiance is not all that appealing.
The Food needs improvement. Nobody would want to come to a restaurant and have something on the lines of what they can get at home and pay for it.

Royal Reve

Dinner in Diamond Hall
I hosted a party here for around 50 people And the menu was a complete veg menu.
The starters
Malai Paneer Tikka
The paneer was very soft and it lived up to the name, except it could not be eaten without a chutney, too bland for my taste.
The paneer was fresh and felt like I was eating one from Punjab Sindh.
Chilli Babycorn
This was the star dish. Crisp baby corn in a nice tadka similar to that used in a Manchuria except we had cups of capsicum and onions, it was the best. I felt like I was having baby corn manchuria, nothing chilli about it. It was delicious.
Hara Bara Kabeb
This was a disappointment. I didn't like it. It tasted like it was made using mashed peas, chilli, garlic finely chopped and other ingredients I couldn't recognise.
Not something I recommend.
Main course (what I tasted Of the spread )
Daal Makhni
This was really good. Makhan ka taste was prominent and the daal was mashed which made the gravy thick. It tasted the best with that veg Biryani.
Dum Sabz Biryani
Rice were perfectly cooked with the fragrance of saffron and tasted rich with butter. The vegetables didn't seem awkward will eating as they were soft enough to melt in the mouth. So if you are there and confused, this is the best bet for your party.
Butter paneer masala
This was not really great but was eatable. The paneer was soft but then the spices used were not in sync, something seemed missing.
Veg Manchow Soup
The soup was served with crisp noodles. All I know it has chopped vegetables and tasted good. Period.

Dessert

Trifle pudding
It had a nice layer of cream to it. Second layer was that of a sponge cake. Bottom had a nice Mix of fruits.
Angoori Rasmalai
The rasmalai were soft. The syrup was not too sweet. It was ok.

The service was top notch. The food on the whole was loved by all the guests. It was a success.
The taste and service  of the food justified the price I paid.

MRCB-Marredpally

Chicken 65
This is a very nice starter. Lots of green chillies and garlic. The chicken has a very thin coating and is bright red. Tastes good and is spicy.

Manchuria
I tasted 2 types of manchuria in one serving. One type seemed chewy and hard while the other one was nice and soft, but oily. This you should be careful of. Try and taste it before you order.

Biryani.
A typical locally suited biryani. High on chilli and very balanced on the spices. The rice upon opening, the packet, may look like it has not much of a masala used but it tastes otherwise. A 200 rupees Biryani has 4 pieces and all are from the breast region of the chicken which makes it chewy and n ordeal to eat the chicken. Mention that you want a good tender piece. The Biryani is spicy mind you.

Khan Saab-2

29-1-2014, Dinner.
It was a very formal occassion and where else to go apart from Khan Saab ?
High expectations but low on delivery.

Paneer Tikka(it should be malai paneer tikka, I forgot the name)
It was OK. Having tasted the same in sigree, was it better here ? No. Both have some work to do on their paneer.
Two pieces of paneer attached together with some chutneys and then tandoored. It was low on spices and also on the taste.

Aloo(This should be Tandoori Aloo)
Name main kya rakha hain, right? Wrong
The dish was boiled potato in the some tadka as that of a 65 based Chinese dish, must be tandoored but I felt it was not great . All it had was the red coating and the masala.

Dahi ki Gahlouti
It had mashed daal, which one ?I really dont know because it was bad, bland and bad.

Daal Khaan Saab
The saving grace amongst all, an oasis in the desert of food low on taste. A generous amount of butter mixed in the daal, but was it worth ordering ? No. It was no where close to finger licking good.
The Kabeb Factory served the best daal makhni and I remember having taken a lot of helpings.
Here, I finished the entire dinner with the daal only because the next dish was a disaster.

Kadai paneer Kashmiri
The paneer was not fresh and the curry was not good. It was tangy but not the good type tangy. There were no dominant flavours. And I really feel the chef was in no mood to cook.
Next time I'll head to sigree for veg.

Tandoori roti.
What? Tandoori?
No, this roti was thick, chewy and cold.

Since it was a very formal occassion, I could not call the guy who took our order and show him the rotis.
For veg khan saab is a no go. Head to sigree if you want but not here.
Brand arrogance has taken over.

A word of caution:
If you order dessert form this place better be ready to wait for a good 20-30 minutes.
Note: The discussion we were in was one reason I didn't pay attention to the names while the dish was being served.
.
Service and Food equally bad.

Vacs

A bakery close to my house and only good bakery serving the best pastries, which made me a regular since 2005 andhave tasted almost every pastry and have also seen the rates go up gradually.
I will give the list of only the best pastries that one should be trying over there and trust me you will love them.

Chocolate truffle
So this is one of my favourites. The cake is good with ample amounts of chocolate layers to stick the cake together and it's a nice chocolate layer, delicious too. Then the cream(icing) on top is another good stuff which complements the chocolate cake underneath. Eat it when cold as the cream is thick and the cake is nice. If eaten at room temperature the cake gets watery(soggy) a little and the cream too doesn't taste all that great.

Chocolate total.
This delicacy is best eaten when hot and melting, when cold it does not taste the way it is supposed to. The pastry oozes with chocolate and it is beats every other chocolate pastry in its class. I tried it with vanilla ice cream too and it tastes good. The cream(icing) is amazing.

Fruit and nut pastry
This is one of our favourites, again with cake having layers of pineapple( I believe) and cream. Then the cake is covered with pineapple and lots of cashew, lots of it

Chocolate slice.
Now this has a base of chocolate cake on top of which some mousse is place and then covered with cream. This is one very different pastry in-case you want to try something different.

Pizzas:

I find them worth the price I had a butter chicken pizza and the taste was excellent.
The chicken is in ample amounts and the cheese is not disappointing either and the base is nicely cooked as well.
Only complaint was that the pizza was too oily and the next time I visited that place I ordered chicken 65 and that too was too oily and made my palate kind off rough so I stopped eating that.

Now that's about it with my favourites
The ones that I do not like is almond chocolate and strawberry roll something, they are kind off weird. I don't really like them.

Almost made it.
Blueberry cheese cake is good but the problem is the icing is on a thin slice of cake and its only blueberry flavor. The inside I can't really recollect because it's been time since I ate that.
Chocolate pyramid.
It is a pyramid shaped chocolate bar thingy which has a lot of mousse or cream( not sure) filled in it.

The only problem is that all the cakes leave the same after taste as the base used is the same. Only the in between layers differ.

Taste 4
Pastries and pizza only.

Ambiance 4.
Most of the time you might have to stand and eat.
