A`la Liberty

13-3-2014
Dinner

What happens When a hardcore Punjabi Family used to eating Tandoori Chicken and Tangdi Kebabs enter a restaurant meant for Vegetarians and one which specifically caters to a certain type of veggies ?
This is how my story goes.

Quesadillas
These were not authentic but an Indianized version. The base, very thin with a lot of oil, while the filling inside was there but didn't seem enough to justify the dish or enough to really analyse what was there along with the cheese and we couldnt even taste the cheese.
Not worth it not at all.

Paneer Tikka
This was much better. The paneer was so soft that it melted in my mouth. The green chutney complemented the taste of the paneer which was on the bland side perfectly.
It was a perfect dish. my compliments to the chef.

Daal Makhni
The daal was no where close to even good.
The lentils were undercooked, there was no butter in the dish and the overall taste too was not really good.
Wonder what made the chef take off the daal from the stove so quickly and did he forget to add the butter?
Come on, the reputation of this place is of a Restaurant with mouth watering food and one where people come back for more. This is not Justified.

Methi Chaman
We are used to having methi chaman and know what the taste is like. The chef here probably used a lot (excessive) of palak that gave it a distinct spinachy taste. This resulted in a dish which was more on the likes of Palak paneer.
Disappointment.

Food: 1

Ambiance: 3
Lot of chatter when we went and it was a full house. Also the place bore a beaten look.

Service:1
The only good thing about this place was the service and interaction with us. Promt every moment.
But then when asked to get the fingerbowls, I saw the waiter transferring water from soiled bowls into a big bowl cleaned them up with a paper napkin and served it to us.
I did not raise the issue as we were there on invitation and it would have been inappropriate to do so at that time.
Never again shall we cross paths A'la Liberty.

The End.
