Vacs

A bakery close to my house and only good bakery serving the best pastries, which made me a regular since 2005 andhave tasted almost every pastry and have also seen the rates go up gradually.
I will give the list of only the best pastries that one should be trying over there and trust me you will love them.

Chocolate truffle
So this is one of my favourites. The cake is good with ample amounts of chocolate layers to stick the cake together and it's a nice chocolate layer, delicious too. Then the cream(icing) on top is another good stuff which complements the chocolate cake underneath. Eat it when cold as the cream is thick and the cake is nice. If eaten at room temperature the cake gets watery(soggy) a little and the cream too doesn't taste all that great.

Chocolate total.
This delicacy is best eaten when hot and melting, when cold it does not taste the way it is supposed to. The pastry oozes with chocolate and it is beats every other chocolate pastry in its class. I tried it with vanilla ice cream too and it tastes good. The cream(icing) is amazing.

Fruit and nut pastry
This is one of our favourites, again with cake having layers of pineapple( I believe) and cream. Then the cake is covered with pineapple and lots of cashew, lots of it

Chocolate slice.
Now this has a base of chocolate cake on top of which some mousse is place and then covered with cream. This is one very different pastry in-case you want to try something different.

Pizzas:

I find them worth the price I had a butter chicken pizza and the taste was excellent.
The chicken is in ample amounts and the cheese is not disappointing either and the base is nicely cooked as well.
Only complaint was that the pizza was too oily and the next time I visited that place I ordered chicken 65 and that too was too oily and made my palate kind off rough so I stopped eating that.

Now that's about it with my favourites
The ones that I do not like is almond chocolate and strawberry roll something, they are kind off weird. I don't really like them.

Almost made it.
Blueberry cheese cake is good but the problem is the icing is on a thin slice of cake and its only blueberry flavor. The inside I can't really recollect because it's been time since I ate that.
Chocolate pyramid.
It is a pyramid shaped chocolate bar thingy which has a lot of mousse or cream( not sure) filled in it.

The only problem is that all the cakes leave the same after taste as the base used is the same. Only the in between layers differ.

Taste 4
Pastries and pizza only.

Ambiance 4.
Most of the time you might have to stand and eat.

Nirvana

14-01-2014

Going by the ratings on Zomato, I decided to order Biryani from this place and the cost for one Biryani was 150 and 2 plates will be enough for 3 people.

The biryani was nothing close to midly spiced. A lot of masala in the biryani. The chicken pieces provided were nice and succulent and had enough spices in them too. The biryani was average nothing like an authentic Hyderabadi Biryani but more of a biryani your mother might cook at home. The rice were a little too soft and not nice and erect.
The spices were soo dominant that it gave me a heart burn after 2 hours.
If you can take in the garam masala then go ahead and this is the biryani you like.
Alternatives for Biryani near Marredpally can be Just Gookul which again do not serve a really fine tasting Biryani.
I would rather go and get one from Green Bawarchi near Station Road. But if you want a home delivery that Nirvana it is(have to try MRCB)

Hunan Spice

12-10-2013
Lunch continued

So still hungry after a nice feast at OTF and craving for some Chinese we entered Hunan Spice adjacent to OTF.
The ambiance is alright not too flashy not too bad. The place was empty and we were the only ones.

Ordered for a Thumbs up 750 and we're charged 35 for it, just 5 rupees over the MRP.
Then came the veg Manchuria. It consisted of cabbage, coriander and very very very less carrot filling coated with maida and then fried. It had a nice tadka (don't know the English word) of green chilli and garlic.

Schezwan Noodles
Nice crisp noodles, no smell of egg and not oily on the palate. The broth comprised of Carrot, zucchini, cabbage, babycorn, broccoli, mushrooms, bell peppers. More than the noodles it was the taste of the veggies and the sauce that blew me.
The Sauce was mildly spiced with pepper, garlic and chilli flakes which visible on the plate.

A nice decent Chinese joint maintains the taste in both the dishes and easy on the pocket as well. I wish them success.

Service-4
With only one guy taking the order at 1pm, wondering how they manage during peak hours.
Ambiance-3.5
It was decent.
Taste-4.5
For that price, "Itne main itna ich milienga" does not hold true.

Peperoncino

Peperoncino
The ambiance is amazing and the time taken to place the food on our table was quick too(food was not served to us though, I didn't know they wouldn't be serving it and we would have to help ourselves)

Calabrese Pizza
This pizza as mentioned had a pepper base, basically tomato puree with chilli flakes and pepper and finely chopped capsicum. Topped with onions and jalapenos. The cheese on this pizza was in excess and it perfectly complementing the other ingredients.

Piccante Pizza
It stated, spicy, but was not at all that spicy for me. Anyway the base was of tomato sauce and topped with capsicum strips(green and yellow) olives and jalapenos(mentioned in the menu). The taste is good.

Try pizzas at Mama Mia/ Over the Flames (i know they are wood burned but worth it keeping the prices in mind)

Rissoto dI fungi
This Rissoto when compared to the one I had in Little Italy is nothing. Ok, I am being harsh but then it wasn't me alone, my companions too held the same view. The Rissoto had a fresh dairy smell and that repelled everyone. It was dressed with a few herbs. I expected it to be more but it turned out less cheesy and was runny like made in milk or white sauce, to offset that we used oregano, chilli flakes and pepper dressings.
(kheer has this similar dairy smell).

Pasta dI verdure
(Fusilli, Alfredo, Broccoli, Olives, Zucchini)
I understand they use cream and cheese but WHERE was the CHEESE ?
Pasta here when compared to what I had in Testa Rosa was inferior in taste. I expected it to be thick but then it was runny. I thought that would thicken after it cools but the pasta remained runny and the taste of cheese was not dominant.

I expected a lot more from this place in terms of taste.
Taste would be 2.5
Service again 2.5

Over the Flames

12-10-2013
Lunch

Cottage cheese pizza
It was for my vegetarian friends - a nice thin crust and delicious with fine chopped garlic, pepper powder not fine though, mild tomato sauce base which I couldn't taste at all and mustard sauce which again I couldn't taste, along with nice long onion slices, Capsicum slices and small pieces of baby corn and cottage cheese.
The pizza was so well made that I didn't find the need to add chilli flakes or oregano.

From the Poultry.
This was for me and it was exotic. Nice thin crust again with pepper powder( not fine) and a tomato sauce base which could be tasted among all the veggies and chicken. The chicken was nice and soft with Pepperoni slices which was equally good and did not taste weird (making sure of it being of good quality) along with minced capsicum and basil. It was a delight and tasted heavenly. Highly recommended.
This too was perfectly made and didn't require add ons.

Cheese garlic bread.
It consisted of 6 small pieces with cheese on top and no additional garnish. The taste of garlic was profound and the bread was a little oily on the palate but managed to carry off the dish all by itself and the sides were nice and crisp. No need required for the add ons. Can be missed.

Chicken snack starts with L ( I forgot the name and its not there in the menu on Zomato )
The plating was not all that great and it didn't matter. The chicken was dressed with olive oil and was green in colour. I felt I tasted oregano but am not sure of it.
The chicken was nicely cut at various places for the marinate of herbs( couldn't figure them out) to soak in and then shallow fried I guess.
It was served with a sauce consisting of mayo, hung curd I guess, oregano, chilli flakes, garlic and pepper.
The sauce was nice but it took away the flavour of the chicken and gave it an all new flavour. So I had a chance to taste the same chicken in 2 styles.

Service - 3
The guy who served was so forgetful that I had to ask him twice for water.

Ambiance- 3.5
Decent seating not all that cushy but good enough.

Taste - 4.5
This has to be the trump card for any restaurant big or small and OTF played its card right. Lives up to its hype of food.
The taste of pepper was eminent in all the dishes.
